To address one of the trucking industry’s biggest challenges—driver turnover—we designed and developed the DRP app: a scalable, incentive-based software solution that helps carriers improve retention, reduce costs, and boost driver efficiency through real-time scoring and gamified engagement.

Problem Statement:

Truck driver turnover remains a massive issue in the industry, with large carriers facing up to 90% annual attrition. Recruiting new drivers is expensive, and losing trained, safe drivers damages both operations and morale. Despite the need, few tools exist that actively motivate drivers while integrating seamlessly with existing fleet systems.

Solution and Implementation:

Orior Media developed the Driver Retention Program (DRP) app as a mobile-first platform tailored for fleet managers and drivers alike. The system assigns drivers to performance tiers (Elite, Level 1, Level 2) based on real-time scoring in safety, operations, and maintenance. Scores reset monthly, allowing consistent motivation and fresh starts. The app syncs with Samsara and other ELD/TMS systems, and includes driver dashboards, admin panels, push notifications, automated bonuses, and analytics tools.

JoyRide Logistics piloted the DRP with measurable success:

Plug-and-Play Compatibility: Integrated with Samsara, with architecture ready for major fleet systems and scalable from 30 to 500+ drivers.
Results from Pilot: Reduced annual costs by $472,800 and significantly improved morale, accountability, and performance at JoyRide.
